Arkansas is the 5th and last quarter of 2003. It was acquired through the Louisiana Purchase. The Arkansas Quarter design bears the image of a Mallard flying above the lake. a diamond, and rice stalks. Arkansas' nickname the Natural State bears images of it's natural resourses.
Arkansas boasts competitive mallard hunting. Visitors can search Crater of Diamonds State Park for precious gems and diamonds, the only mine opento the public who may keep what they find. A U.S. record 40.23 carat diamond was found in the mine. Also Arkansas is the leading producer of rice in the United States.
